We act for unionized and non-unionized employers in disputes with employees and unions. We appear before labour arbitrators, the Ontario Labour Relations Board, the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario and the courts. Construction Labour Relations

We act for construction employers before the Ontario Labour Relations Board and labour arbitrators. Our work addresses union bargaining rights, related employer and sale of business issues, grievances and the interpretation of collective agreements within Ontario’s specialized construction labour relations regime.

Commercial & Civil Litigation

We represent businesses and professionals in disputes arising from contracts, business relationships, fraud, misappropriation and reputation. We begin by identifying what the client needs to protect or recover, then build the case around the available remedies and evidence. We appear on motions, at trial and in enforcement proceedings.

Regulatory, Administrative & Public Law

Public law concerns how governments, regulators, tribunals and other public bodies exercise their legal authority. We act in regulatory prosecutions, administrative hearings, statutory appeals and court challenges to public decisions. We also advise public bodies and other statutory decision-makers on what they are authorized to do and the procedures they must follow. The firm has long-standing experience in property assessment and exemption matters for an institutional client.

Appeals & Judicial Review

We act in civil, labour and administrative appeals and applications for judicial review, including challenges to decisions made by tribunals, regulators and other public bodies. We identify the questions capable of changing the result and distill what may be a lengthy record into a clear and focused case. We also advise during hearings on issues that may become important if the decision is later challenged.
