Alexander is a partner and litigator whose practice is centred on management-side labour and employment law. He represents unionized and non-unionized employers in litigation, labour arbitrations, proceedings before the Ontario Labour Relations Board and human rights matters.

His broader practice includes civil and commercial litigation, construction labour relations and administrative proceedings. Many of these disputes have consequences beyond the immediate claim or hearing, including for an organization’s operations, labour relations or dealings with a regulator.

Alexander has appeared at every level of court in Ontario, as well as the Federal Court and Federal Court of Appeal. He has also appeared before labour, human rights and other administrative tribunals. He acts in appeals and applications for judicial review arising from labour, regulatory and administrative proceedings.

Alexander’s matters often involve legal, operational and institutional considerations that cannot be separated from one another. He develops the strategy around the client’s broader objective, taking account of the forum, the other side’s incentives and the consequences of the dispute for the organization. Litigation is a means of achieving that objective, not an end in itself.

Before joining a management-side practice, Alexander began his career at a Toronto litigation boutique and later founded and operated his own civil and employment litigation firm. That experience informs his practical understanding of the pressures facing business owners and professionals involved in litigation.

Alexander received his Honours Bachelor of Arts from the University of Toronto in 2008 and his Juris Doctor from the University of Calgary in 2013. He was called to the Ontario Bar in 2014.

Outside his practice, Alexander is interested in technology and how it can improve the organization of information and legal work. He also enjoys travel and reading.
